Gowan Avenue, Fulham

Apartment refurbishment and remodel involving an extension to the rear and side to form a two bedroom, two bathroom garden flat with courtyard, which maximised the available space and use of natural light. The proposal added value in both design and profit uplift terms for our developer client. In addition to ‘party wall’ matters, dblo sought a ‘license of alteration’ from Hammersmith and Fulham council who were the building’s freeholders.

This was particularly noticeable at this year Grand Designs Show which took place earlier this year with their new build Hertfordshire House design proposal which is a sustainable timber framed shingle clad house set in a 1/3 acre plot

The response was over whelming and new enquiries for clients wanting to remodel extend or build new homes were up by 30% on last year.

dblo are waiting in anticipation as Government plans to temporarily relax planning regulations for one year: http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2012/sep/06/david-cameron-planning-laws-growth-plan

We wait to be able to analyse the details of the policy and comment on what this really means to householders and businesses, but they seem to be saying rear residential extensions could extend to as much as 6 or 8 metres and commercial premises could be extended by 100 to 200 sqm without permission. With all of this though.. ‘the devil is in the detail .‘

dblo are currently negotiating a Section 106 Agreement with Ealing council’s Legal team  on a new build housing development in Greenford. The proposal for 2 new houses was recommended for approval by Ealing’s Planning Department. The 106 concession is for tree planting and boundary improvements.
